GMC Beats is run by music producer & rapper Garry McCarthy (GMC) and has been delivering workshops in schools around Ireland since 2009. These fun, educational and creative workshops have been featured on the Late Late Toy Show, RTE Nationwide, Cork’s Red FM, Dublin’s 98FM, 2fm, thejournal.ie and various other media around Ireland.
GMC Beats workshops are all about creative song writing, rapping, singing, music technology, recording and performance. Young people will get the chance to write and record their own lyrics and make original music using the latest technology. We also have facilitators that specifically cater for DJing, beatboxing, stage performance and singing.
Recent projects include:
The production of two albums and music videos for Cork teenage hip hop group “The Break it Down Initiative” a project funded by Leargas and run by Mayfield Arts Centre.
Writing, rapping and performance workshops in schools nationwide through Poetry Ireland’s Wrapparound initiative.
